Project Information
There are many different livestock projects students can participate in.  These are among some of the most expensive SAE's a student can have but they are often the most rewarding.

Due to the large number of students wishing to participate in livestock SAE's, we have limited pen space to one pen per student in the main barn with a maximum of two animals.  Pens can house up to two animals but you may not mix species unless prior approval is granted from an Ag Teacher.   If there are extra pens available, we will sign additional pen space by using a lottery system.

If you are interested in raising an animal for the 2017-2018 school year, please review the facility agreement (get a copy from an ag teacher).  You may return the signed agreement to one of the Ag Teachers along with payment for your pen.  Pen fees (fees maybe increasing) are as follows:

  • First pig/goat/lamb - $50 for the first animal, $25 Second animal in same pen (owned by the same student)
  • Second Pen (if available) - $50 for first animal, $25 for second animal (owned by same student)
  • If you are splitting a pen for any reason with another student, each of you pays $50.
  • Cattle Pens - $100 (We do not split cattle pens and we will not be leasing these pens out for swine/sheep/goats.  Only cattle will be permitted in the cattle barn.)
  • Poultry Pens are subject to availability.  See an Ag Teacher for more information.

All animal pens will be assigned on a first come, first served basis. All extra pens will be assigned using a lottery system.  Extra pens will be assigned by an Ag Teacher after all pen reservations have been made.  Payment is required before those pens are assigned or animals are moved into the barn.

FFA Meeting Participation
FFA Members are required to attend at least 50% of the chapter's meeting from August to December in order to be eligible to show.

No Pass NO SHOW
Students suspended under Texas Education Code 33.081 “No Pass, No Play” are ineligible to participate in any event associated with Travis County Youth Show or any other major livestock show. Any Animal or Youth Fair Item owned by an ineligible exhibitor is ineligible for competition. ELIGIBILITY MUST BE MAINTAINED THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE SHOW STARTING WITH THE FIRST EXHIBITOR/CONTESTANT CHECK –IN THROUGH THE AUCTION.

BOOSTER CLUB PARTICIPATION
It is STRONGLY encouraged that a parent or guardian join both the Hendrickson FFA Booster Club and the Pflugerville Ag and Youth Boosters (PAYB).  These two booster clubs support the students and their projects in many different ways and that support wouldn't be possible without the participation of the parents.

The HHS FFA Booster Club meets on the 2nd Monday of the month at 6:30 pm and PAYB meets on the 1st Monday of the month at 6:30 pm.
